My Life as A River

A Fish Out of Water

shivering apparitions of early morning mists
softly settle on their deep—quiescent waters
opening eager veils to my daily adventure
awakened—I rise inside this azure fluidity
piercing the astral surface of discovery
to realize—another universe has been made
just for me—filling my solitary spirit with light
and its greener expanse of space and time
feeding new tastes and smells—flooding senses
with a fresh mystery—I choose to consume
happiness that erodes my stony boundaries
with a daily celestial gift—I liberally choose
some still say—you are different—well—
I can make a difference—or be indifferent
I can drink this life in—or I can drown in it
I am a rare fish—but today—I choose to fly
