My Life as A River

Be The Now

peacemakers are artists of time
sculpting the present moment
as they brush over drab melancholy
by ministering pure peace—now
without any plan or strategy
because they don’t live in the past
heaped in histories of mistake
and they don’t dwell on futures
propagating ashen uncertainty
dark corners of pasts never forgive
and futures crave fear and anxiety
but life thrives in energies of now
where present electrifies kindness
in the touches of humble souls
who serve instantaneous needs
always listening and watching
ever feeling and knowing
ready to respond to any plea
a call, a text, or a tear—with love
never judging a broken heart
or sorting old dustbins of despair
entering your pain—as a trusted friend
leaving your joy—as a loving miracle
becoming God’s gentle hand of grace
conducting beautiful sonatas of empathy
that quench fires of distress and despair
like calming waters of a summer rain
and this is why peacemakers are blessed

NOW—I need to find peace in myself
