I have spent far too much time dwelling on the past this month. Perhaps it has been the strangulating heat. Whatever the cause, this is an island I often retreat to in my ignorance—only to discover that it only bestows upon me its gift of discouragement and darkness. In our society and the rage of politics, it is a sport to focus on our history, even attempt to spend ludicrous amounts of time and money to change it, when what we really should be doing is focusing our energy on our future. Our children’s future. This is what we can effectively change, and this is where we can leave a kinder legacy or history to our beloved posterity. Hence some poems are on time and change. And, of course, I had to throw in something about water—because there seems to never be enough of it… Please enjoy. Your friend—Doug
