This month—so many of us are celebrating humble thanks for the countless blessings and opportunities that God provides. As I age, I seem to find it somewhat easier to count how many things I am truly grateful for. And the stuff that matters the most also fills my senses more. The world and our nation are brimming full of noise, confusion, contention, division, and war, but if you believe as I do (and as written in many of my poems), there is always a mountain of hope that stands tall to nourish and shade us. As part of that hope, and as we approach the upcoming holiday season, please join me as we seek out and recognize that the vast majority of people are good and are also seeking peace and light to radiate upon their every moment. We all suffer from problems and challenges, but the problems of popular people and politicians tend to consume all media and suck away hope. We can easily lose focus on the reality of ourselves and those that surround us. Those that need us. My wife Diane and I pray that you, your family, and your loved ones enjoy a peaceful, kind, and rewarding end of the year. Remember—hope begins with gratitude, but it thrives on love and friendship!
