In April, we not only celebrated Earth Day but also National Poetry Month. And the two celebrations fit together comfortably well. In poetry, we try to say a lot of stuff with as few words as possible and do it in a way that leaves a deep or impressionable feeling, like a beautiful work of art or music. Now, I don’t claim to be artistic or talented by any means, but I believe we could all step back a bit and enjoy this lovely planet and our loved ones more personally and more poetically. And while we are at it, perhaps we can learn to demonstrate our passion or devotion by simply using fewer words and leaving more gentle impressions of the peace and humanity that infuses this planet.
