July 4th in our small Town of Oakley brings out a magnificent spirit of volunteerism, contributions, and patriotism. This year, Oakley is celebrating its 90th Rodeo and Celebration, and I often find myself forgetting all those who make our local communities wonderful. While drowned in national issues and headlines, I would like to pay tribute to all the selfless volunteers, veterans, the City Council, the Mayor, and the Administration who have always worked hard (for practically nothing) to make this quiet mountain community safe and vibrant. Most of the essential government services, such as water, sewer, police and fire protection, garbage collection, and planning, often go unnoticed. Still, without these dedicated public servants, our lives would be significantly more difficult. Have a joyous holiday! Peace and love, my dear friends! Doug
