My poetry theme this month is based on prayer. And never have I needed it more! To me, prayer is an effectual, spontaneous, often rusty, yet genuine act of faith (even a small seed) that requires no formal instruction. Prayer is rooted in the most personal form of communion known, established in solemn humility and deep gratitude. As we appeal for support through this tunnel-like link of hope to a higher power, far beyond us, we can also rise above any ego or pride. This earnest act is never regulated or monitored by mere mortals. It is rooted in our inner words or poetry of the heart, reaching for a strength beyond our own. It is best spoken silently, in our own secret and sacred chamber of a longing spirit. Prayer requires no government approval, schedule, or religious sanction. It is your own personal plea, in your own needful time, quietly or silently spoken in hallowed respect. And when an answer comes, most are found in a personal and warm spiritual embrace, a comforting realization of pure love and peace, the type where you know that you are not alone, that you are good when you may have thought otherwise. And because you are created in the express image of God, spiritually born of Heavenly Parents, they listen, and listen well. That your care and safety are justified, and as a beloved child, God claims you. May we all discover that we are children of both earth and heaven, things within a much greater thing, parts of an encompassing plan beyond all human plans!
