Life’s a Kumquat
In life’s schemes of stuffs
we are pocket-sized fruits
that embrace the greatness
of our peculiar—silky color
gushing in bite’s first blush
the stout bouquets of tartness
swirl us into sourly puckers
of acidity—hastily yielding
to a far mellower harmony
imbued in the sweeter quash
of our softer—yummier rinds
sweetness quenches sourness
and blended in joys together
these succulent drips of hope
and kindness—overpowers
every bitter or silly mistake
