Touching Grass

When our worn-out bones dissolve
In life’s murky—accidental waters
Let’s incarcerate every distraction
And our glowing oracles of glass
Into dungeons of depleting power
Then step into soft—sacred spaces
Touching Earth’s verdant grasses
That paints our flowing silhouettes
With whispering winds of peace
Balms of sunlight soothe suffering
Over fronds of caressing splendor
Meadows—subduing dins of time
Wildflowers—chanting in solitude
Prayers—whispering our secrets
Gratitude—retelling past miracles
Praising—we emerge empathetic
From a solemn stealth of sanctuary
And surrender to our divine creator
With love that can never be counted
And as grass absorbs pains and fears
We absorb God’s sustaining grace
To become braver and kinder spirits
