Headwaters
The soft thunder of a summer storm
awakens hibernating spires of alpine life
descending misty atmospheres of hope
billions of divine droplets shape rivulets
flowing in purity and merging into peace
still in mountain pools of shaded growth
My beautiful wife discovers all their names
collecting each legacy into our own memory
ancestral trees quiver on winding brooks of
bright spirits—noble in time—born of God
and I help her—as a quiet root of support
to reconnect the filaments of precious time
In a next life—our differences become heaven
we stand side by side—not above or below
joining families—from the headwaters of life
we restore joys in shades of blue—vast rivers
of lasting love and unity—children of grace
flowing onward—to calm—oceans of eternity
