Starfish Wishes

merciless breakers of rolling rage
born beneath lost—lonely rainbows
churn deep colors into hoary froths
pounding me with spines of fear
relentless—I cling to maroon rocks
my heart hangs on hasps of hope
that the retreating tide will leave
me tranquil—in a crystal tide pool
drunken with the gentle moonlight
potions of lovely—living waters
my sunken hermitage of weary sea
awaits a redemption of sacred flow
with children wading deep in play
and splashing my starfish wishes
into azure skies—far beyond time
to wait—for one last colossal wave
